Greetings to the Global Shore extended family,
We are writing to you to provide an update on our ministry and to ask you to join us in prayer as we plan for the future. Our Canadian Executive Director Cathy Penelton shared with us recently that God has led her to a new opportunity outside of Global Shore. As such, Cathy’s last day with us will be July 2nd. Cathy, as you know, has been a tremendous part of our ministry, highlighted most recently through the wonderful Vision Night that Cathy developed and led for us.
As we begin to seek God for a new director we are blessed that Shantelle Vera, who has worked side by side with Cathy, has agreed to step in as Interim Director while we search for a permanent leader.
Many of you will be familiar with Shantelle as the cheerful voice or email author connecting with our supporters to answer a question or to simply say “thank you” for your generosity. She will be working closely with Bob Putman, our board treasurer, to ensure that all of our key areas of administration, regulatory, financials and donor support continue as they always have. Additionally, we will be hiring for a 2-day-a-week Donor Relations and Foundations position to provide support during this transition, ensuring that our ministry of transforming Guatemala through Christ-centred education continues smoothly. We ask for your prayers for this interim time and for Bob and Shantelle as they lead us through it.
As we move forward trusting God to lead us to a new director, we invite you to pray with us that God will lead us in His plan and will provide as He always does. Since the founding of this ministry it has been evident that God has a special purpose for this work, and we have been reminded of that over and over again as we witness God’s faithfulness.
In the Vision Night last week, it was such a joy to be reminded by the faces, smiles and excitement seen in the videos of our students, that this is why we exist and why we continue to do what we do. Our board chairman and co-founder Robert Konrad captured it wonderfully when he shared with us: “Seeing the pictures and videos of the kids helped me refocus and realize that what we do is help the teachers teach and help the leadership focus and prepare for the future.”
Through the Christ-centred teaching of our staff, God is changing the hearts and minds of these children, who then impact their families and communities. We pray this will transform Guatemala for Christ. We are confident that God will continue to lead us and He will provide a new director who will continue this work for His kingdom. Thank you all for being a part of this important work, for supporting Global Shore and for praying for God’s provision and direction during this season.
