As we started our new school year in January and reconnected with our staff who were freshly back from vacation, we gave a special welcome to our new staff! Although some of them are familiar to our ministry, we’re grateful to have each of them committed with us for the 2018 school year! Read below to find out their positions in the school and hear a bit about how they’re feeling at the start of the year.
Donya
English, JK – Grade 4
“Being here with Global Shore at this school is like a dream come true for me because it combines all the things I love and am passionate about including teaching, living in another country, experiencing another culture and learning Spanish.”
Gladys
Teacher, Grade 10
“To be here is a blessing. We’re not just intellectually guiding our students, but also guiding them in the word and love of God. It’s more holistic: we’re not just working with academics, but also sharing the love God has for every one of our students.”
Linnea
English, Grade 12
“I’m teaching the Grade 12 students, so my goal for them is that they would become fluent, so that if they wanted to get a job or go to university in Canada or in the United States, that would be possible. It’s a tall order, but that’s the goal: fluency.”
Marielos
High School Secretary
“God opened the door so that I could come to this place. My desire is to serve Him, and here you can do that. That’s all I want, so I’m really happy. It’s a great privilege to work for Global Shore. It’s a dream come true.”
Max
TEFL Assistant
“Coming here felt like coming home. I came here and it was exactly where God wanted me and like I was coming to a time of bringing forth the person He wanted me to be. I think it’s going to be an amazing season.”
Torreana
English, Grades 5 – 9
“I felt like God was calling me to trust him. Back home I felt like I was just in this bubble, and I wasn’t growing… but being here, God has really pushed me out of my comfort zone. Each day he’s been like: ‘Today is a new, fresh start, and I’m going to be your strength and your joy throughout the day. You can’t do it on your own, but you can do it in my strength.’”
