On April 5th we received a message from one of our sponsors and trip alumni, Nicki, from BC. Nicki’s birthday was coming up on May 14th and although she has preferred to quietly celebrate her birthday on her own in the past, when she got wind of our 100 at a Hundred campaign she was moved to participate. We were so touched that what prompted her to step out of her comfort zone for this year’s birthday was a desire to help the kids in Guatemala. What an amazing heart!
While Nicki was willing to join the birthday campaign, she wasn’t entirely sure the best way to go about it. Her friend Heather stepped up to help pull some thoughts together. Both are part of a small group with their local church and they decided to celebrate Nicki’s birthday with the small group. Many from this same group had already been on the ground with us in Guatemala, so it seemed a great fit. The date was set, information sent out, and preparations made.
In addition to the party, Nicki was given permission through her work at a credit union to promote the opportunity around the head office and other nearby regions. Nicki was so excited about how things were coming together and wrote to us, “I hope in the end this has been beneficial to God’s ministry through Global Shore!!”
When all was said and done, Nicki raised $340 for the school in Guatemala and also inspired others at her party to join the birthday campaign. What a catalyst! Thank you Nicki for your heart to help the school in Guatemala. You are a blessing to us!
