Yes! We encourage you to write to your staff partner. While mail can be sent to our head office, electronic communication is quicker and will be translated and passed along to your partner teacher within the week!

Carlos has worked at CCAF since 2009! His favourite part about working here is going shopping for different things that the school needs. If Carlos could only eat one food for the rest of his life, it would be beans.
The Teacher Partnership Program (TPP) funds the work of our staff as national missionaries in our school. All our staff at Colegio Cristiano Avivando el Fuego (CCAF) understand that beyond their staff positions, they are ministers of the gospel. Each staff member has a team of partners who support them in their work in the amount of $50 or $100 per month (or more!) and stand with them in their ministry, to a total partnership of $400 per month.
Teacher partners receive a yearly prayer card and three letters a year (sent with our ministry updates). You are also welcome to stay in touch through our Sponsorship Coordinator. (Details are provided upon processing of first financial contribution.)
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Can I send gifts to my staff partner?
We believe in appropriate gift-giving, and you’re welcome to take part in that! You can contact our Sponsorship Coordinator for culturally-appropriate gift ideas. Teachers may also have specific ideas for field trips or classroom materials that they would like to implement. In most cases, an online donation will allow us to purchase a gift in-country which can then be wrapped and given.
We do not permit monetary gifts of any kind.
Can I visit my staff partner?
Yes! Partners of GSO are welcome to join us on a short-term trip. Also, if you’re visiting Guatemala on your own, please feel free to contact us and we will gladly receive you at the school to introduce you to your teacher and give you a tour of the school and ministry.
Why have I been re-assigned a staff member?
While turnover is less frequent amongst our employees, staff members may leave our school for other opportunities. When staff are no longer working with GSO, you will be informed right away and offered another staff partnership. (Only if we don’t hear from you will we re-assign you to staff member.)
Where does GSO work?
The Global Shore office is based in Ontario, Canada, with an American office in Pennsylvania. Our ministry operates exclusively in Guatemala.
Will I get a tax receipt for my donation?
Yes. Global Shore is a registered charity in Canada and the United States, and issues tax receipts for all donations within those countries. Tax receipts are mailed out February of the following year. We are not able to provide tax receipts for other countries.
Is GSO affiliated with a church or denomination?
GSO is not directly under a particular local church or under the umbrella of a denomination. The founders of GSO are committed Christians in their local faith communities. In Guatemala, we work closely with a local, apostolic church network called La Gloria Que Impacta, which is pastored by Jacobo & Julianna Pelaez.
Is my monthly donation going directly to my staff partner?
Donations do not go directly to staff members. Instead, monthly donations combine with the support of other sponsors and donors to fund the operational costs of the school, which then provides salaries for our staff.
