Dora’s house was built in 2007. She and her husband live with their two children, Alejandra and Rudy Esau. This family lives up the hill, out of Tizate a little ways and their house was made of bamboo and bags held together by stickers. Like many families in Central America, land is inherited by their parents. Some people, like Dora, inherit land situated in a precarious position; right on a mountainside. There is little to do in these situations but build a retaining wall, sometimes which costs just as much as the home itself.
