Since 2007, Global Shore Opportunities has directed and supported CCAF (Fanning the Flame Christian School). We rely on the leadership and partnership of qualified, passionate local Guatemalan believers to provide quality education and discipleship to every student who comes through our doors.
“I left this school for a year to see what it was like elsewhere. I went to a public school and it was different in every way: the education, the way I was treated, everything. I realized the education was really behind.
It was like a dead-end.
I couldn’t get further forward because they didn’t teach me a lot. Instead, here, I can see the difference.”
“Honestly, I love it here. At the start it was strange, because it’s not the same here as in other schools. Where I studied before, there weren’t devotionals, it wasn’t focused on walking with God like here. It was just a school. The first day I started to realize how this place was different:
they teach us how to live.”
“My parents only studied until Grade 6, because that’s what was available where they lived. I’m glad to be finishing Grade 9, because I think that the education I’ve received is important in order to study in university or work in a business.
I want to be someone that matters in Guatemala.”
“The school provides a great support for us students, that we can study and grow spiritually. The school has helped me and many of my friends very much to draw us closer to the Lord and develop a good relationship with Him. This school is a great help for many people.“
While we provide a quality education, we also concern ourselves with the development of the whole student. We employ a full-time pastor who mentors and encourages students, visits families in need, and teaches Bible classes. We gather together every morning for worship and prayer, and provide our youngest students with a warm breakfast every morning. We’re invested in the future of Guatemala, and believe that our students are that future.
Next year we’re offering our very first Grade 12 courses. After years of building our student body, we will be a K-12 school, able to offer complete programs to our students. Our newest classrooms are constructed, painted and furnished, waiting for the students’ arrival.
At this point, our current monthly support does not allow for us to continue with our current program sizes, not to mention accepting new students into our Junior Kindergarten. We’re in the process of strategizing for long-term sustainability, and, while we remain steadfastly committed to our mission of raising up disciples of Christ through our work in Guatemala, our need is greater than ever. We are in need of $100,000 more in one-time gifts to sustain our ministry through the end of our fiscal year, while we seek long-term solutions and build our donor base.
Give a one-time gift towards our year-end campaign, helping to send our students back to school for the 2018 year.
We have big dreams for our students believing that many of them will significantly impact Guatemala’s future. Will you help us reach our goals?
Our school looks to provide Christian education to children and youth in need, whether their needs are financial, spiritual or emotional.
